Norweigan Wood (This Bird Has Flown)

The name of this post is actually just a reference to the adorable woodland creatures in this photo, not prostitutes or lesbians. It's a print from my most recent color film roll. It's shot in C41, but I cross processed it. I thought it was all Christmas-y so here it is. Merry Christmas One (the amount of people who read this blog) and All!

I know I haven't updated in quite some time, but in the spirit of Christmas I thought I would be generous by delighting you all with my thoughts. Also I'm a T.A. and we have a sub today, so that's actually why I'm writing.

I'm working quite rigorously on college apps and various portfolios, but everyone needs a break, especially at Christmas. I think that's what the good lord would say. Christmas is truly the most wonderful time of the year-Prancing about in uncharacteristically spring-like weather due largely to Global Warming, filling your emotional voids with shopping, being nice to people you don't actually like...It's all so joyous. But amid all the festive sweaters and yule logs, I have just one beef with Christmas:

There is NO quality contemporary Christmas music. I feel like the only Christmas music I hear these days is that SYMPHONIC Mariah Carrey number, or some half-assed cover of River. Dually noted, I did enjoy The Colbert Christmas Special which was hilarious and at times touching- specifically their rendition of What's So Funny 'Bout Peace, Love, and Understanding? The music was written by Elvis Costello himself, as well as that guy from Fountains of Wayne. Maybe they should do another Christmas album to make up for all the humorously crass crap that's out there. While I'm on the subject, Here's a few other people I think should do a Christmas album:

David Bowie

1. Because he's awesome.

2. Because it would generally confuse the public, and be potentially kind of creepy.

3. Listen to Velvet Goldmine and put something in there about yuletide and I think you'll see things my way.

Barack Obama

1) Because it would inspire the nation

2) It could potentially save the economy

3) He would be the first African-American president, and the first president with a Christmas album (This could possibly mean another Grammy).

4) It would be impossibly suave

5) It would probably affirm the fact that he is not a Muslim or a terrorist in the heart's of the American people (Heaven forbid an intellectual Harvard-graduate Muslim run the country).

Okay, I'm done. Readers, feel free to suggest other potential artists to save Christmas music.
